17 Nov Manufacturing A Counter POS Display- Mini case study
We recently helped design and manufacture a counter top POS display for a range of small devices. The units are for credit card sized smart devices that help locating lost property. Let’s dive in of “mini” version of how counter POS display is made!
The welder works his way around the entire piece of metalwork, welding each threaded stud into place. Once that is done, the welder took the piece to the press brake department. There they bent every piece of flat metalwork using a range of tools such as custom radius bend tools.
Laser Cutting
The CAD team program and set the units and send them further to the laser cutting team.
Jigs, Bolts and Bents
The units are designed with keen teamwork of various departments as well as using multi-skilled welders to construct it. First, they used the jig that was made by CAD, the jig was to be cut at the same time as the parts for the unit. And then the jig is stud weld the threaded studs into place by welder with ease, precision and high accuracy
Powder coating
For this design, high-gloss white was chosen so as the end product could give a reflective finish. All internal and external parts are powder coated for the finest end product.
Testing
As this particular project was a prototype, so it went back to the fabrication team before powder coating. This is the CAD team will recheck all the pieces are formed together properly as well as external pieces fit accurately, any errors are corrected at this stage itself. They go over the drawings and make any adjustments before mass production.
Assembly
All the pieces tested by welding as well as CAD team are assembled together to complete the prototype. All the pieced including rubber stopper feet, panels, and anti-theft bolts to protect our demonstration models on display are assembled.
